How to Create a Strong Password
As a password is the most important link in one's security chain, it should be at least as strong as other links. To create a strong password, several things need to be regarded.
A password should be at least 6 characters long. The shorter the password, the easier it is to break. However, excessively long passwords are hard to remember, so a password of 6-8 characters should be sufficient.
It should not be a single dictionary word. A whole word can not withstand a brute force attack, so the password should be a set of random letters, if possible. While "book" is not it, 'kobo' may be a bit stronger.
Avoid using personal information in a password. Mother's maiden name or a pet's nick can easily be retrieved, should a malefactor make some effort.
The password should contain letters in varying case. Simply using upper-case in one's passwords increases its strength dramatically.
A special character or two should be used. To create a password, which can be remembered easily, they can be used in the beginning and at the end of the password. If a password is a combination of two sets of characters, a special character can be placed in the middle.
In the end, the password should resemble something like this "_KobO#", which is a bit stronger than a simple 'book'. It is vitally important to remember a password, which alone increases its security to a great extent.
